Christiansburg, VA, Nov. 11, 2009 – Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and HCA’s two New River Valley Hospitals -- Montgomery Regional and Pulaski Community -- are demonstrating a commitment to providing a clean and healthy environment by becoming tobacco-free campuses. Beginning January 1, 2010 patients, visitors and employees are being asked to refrain from using tobacco products when visiting these hospitals, as well as other facilities, including physician practices and outpatient centers, that are part of HCA’s and Carilion’s health systems in the New River Valley.

Salem, Virginia, July 8, 2010 – HCA Virginia Health System has announced the opening of its new Department of Clinical Genetics which will offer genetic counseling for patients at all four of its hospitals (Lewis-Gale, Montgomery Regional, Pulaski Community and Alleghany Regional Hospitals).

Virginia Beach and Richmond, VA, June 28, 2011 – On July 1, 2011, HCA Virginia Health System will become a provider for the Optima Health network in Virginia. The agreement will provide access for Optima Health members to a complete network including HCA Virginia’s hospitals, surgery centers, imaging centers and employed physicians in Central, Southwest and Northern Virginia.
